Mongo is finally back home!

Following hospitalization initially for a urinary tract infection and pneumonia on Feb. 15, McMichael had a diagnosis of MRSA, and his treatment regimen included a blood transfusion to combat the illness.

However, he is back doing better, and the family is so thankful he is back home.

"The outpouring of love, support, and prayers have helped Steve get through this latest battle," his publicist said in a statement. "All he wanted was to get home to [wife] Misty and [daughter] Macy where he feels most comfortable. "

'Mongo' continues to fight.

"Steve indicated to his doctors and wife, Misty, that he wanted to fight this latest battle," the statement added.

McMichael was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame a week before this latest illness that needed hospitalization. He is second all-time with the Bears with 92.5 sacks and third all-time in tackles with 814.

The 66-year-old McMichael has been dealing with an ALS diagnosis three years ago.

“He’s one tough guy,” Misty McMichael said. “He’s Mongo and his DNA is different! Keep those prayers coming! Thank you!”
